Deep in the vaults of an institution for the criminally insane, The Blood Brothers await their final hours on Earth. In the custody of a physician as sinister as they are, the two brothers fill their last days feeding on the surreal stories of their fellow inmates.

In the Blood Brothers’ world the tragedies of history are rerun pretty much as the same tragedies; this time (in Bedlam Nightmares Part One: Strapped In), abuse of captive mental patients and snakepit-movie stereotypes rise again with zero retribution or redemption, except maybe the sour self-awareness of the Brothers, MCs of their own story... The Brothers in isolation will be forced to consider the consequences of their actions and the implications of their art. They’ll be really dangerous once they’ve lost their innocence. — Adam McGovern

The execution of the Blood Brothers races closer. Their hospital-prison seems inescapable. And their even more evil captor, Doctor Queen, has vowed that she will break their minds before she destroys their bodies. So while she's away, that means exposing the boys to some of the ugliest, most rancid stories and scenes the hospital has to offer. This May, you'll meet sinister shrinks, sadistic snackers, and a silly psychopath as the battle of wills between the Bads and the Badder intensifies.

Scary theater just indicates someone is going to use psychology to push us out of our comfort zones, doesn’t it? I knew this when I sat in the front row at The Brick, a place known for innovative performance, and put on the spatter-preventing poncho. Even armed with this knowledge, and being acquainted with the work of playwrights Nat Cassidy, Mariah MacCarthy, and Mac Rogers, I still learned something new at this installment of Blood Brothers Present Bedlam Nightmares Part Two: Shock Treatments. — Ed Malin, nytheater now

Doctor Queen continues to drive a wedge between the once-inseparable brothers, finally winning the more brutal of the two (played by Pete Boisvert) over to her side. While it is fun to watch Boisvert's usually brutal and thuggish Blood Brother regress into childlike behavior, it's amazing to see how Shearer's normally haughty and humorous Brother is stripped of all his power (and more importantly, his audience). Watching Shearer play a a clever and desperate serial killer who is being backed into a corner is a delight, and I can't wait to see how the series ends. — Byrne Harrison, StageBuzz
Imagine... a man. Then imagine another man. Two brothers. With blood-red eyes. skin as white as bone, and mouths full of stories. These are the Blood Brothers. And today is the day they’re slated to die.
This is the final night of the Blood Brothers' lives as they face execution for their many crimes in the sinister, off-the-books mental hospital run by the malevolent Doctor Queen. The bad Doctor has invited a select audience of the wealthiest and most powerful to watch the boys fry, but before they can be granted the release of death, they must host one final anthology of the horrific, mauled-from-the-headlines tales that are their stock and trade. They must provide the entertainment at their own execution.

A brilliantly grotesque evening of diverse horrors... The theatricality of the piece is remarkably intricate from well plotted projectionwork to flexibility in lighting presentation by Morgan Zipf-Meister and costume design by Karle J. Meyers. The actors perform with an “I’ve always wanted to do this” glee which reverberates within the audience... “The Blood Brothers” present Bedlam Nightmares: Execution Day is above all a well crafted evening of theatre. The immense collaborative team presents a fiercely imagined and intentionally designed evening of horror. — Wesley Doucette - New York theatre Review
The performers all relish the horrors they depict, whether they are portraying killer or victim (the lucky ones got to be both). The violence is indeed bloody. One fellow gets his intestines removed by hand. Another victim vomits onto the stage floor before dying from poison. Many others are sliced and/or stabbed... Fans of the macabre should find something to enjoy in Bedlam Nightmares: Execution Day. — Roark Littlefield, StageBuddy
The overarching story of the Blood Brothers and their upcoming execution is everything that I hoped it would be (they are even forced to perform in a final Grand Guignol show describing their final murder spree that landed them in Hospital One). Disturbing, funny (thanks in no small part to Bob Laine), surprising, and ultimately completely satisfying.. — Byrne Harrison, StageBuzz
An evening of terrifying tales and spurting arteries that is definitely not for children... If you like your Halloween horror dark, blood-soaked, and moral-free, check yourself into Hospital One for a visit — Amanda LaPergola - Theatre is Easy
